Dr. Matt Biggerstaff has been with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) since 2006, and an epidemiologist with its Influenza Division since 2009. In this role, he leads CDC influenza forecasting and modeling activities and works to understand and evaluate how forecasting and mathematical modeling can complement influenza surveillance and inform seasonal and pandemic influenza public health actions. He also serves as a Senior Advisor for Infectious Disease Modeling and Analytics to the CDC’s Deputy Director for Infectious Diseases, and has led and supported the CDC’s and the U.S. government’s interagency modeling and forecasting response to the COVID-19 pandemic since January 2020.
