I think this is a great opportunity for government to show the public what gov does in a friendly, approachable way using a popular social tool. I’d love to see photos from far-flung corners of this country – wildlife restoration in California, meat inspectors in Iowa, a border post in Texas, park rangers in North Carolina and so on.

Govvies – get your best photographers shooting. You probably already have people in your office who use and love Instagram. Get them to start taking pictures for you.

The problem is (not the only) what about leaks etc.? Some uneducated people could put in there some private files and even mark them as private, which is totally unacceptable as on gov page!

I love Instagram. I also wonder if it works for people who are visually impaired.

  4. Instagram is a great tool for educating the public and encouraging civic reporting and dialogue with constituents. The new video feature which allows for 15 second video makes it the go to platform for short video. The video platform also has “cinema feature” which allows for stabilization of video as it is being shot.
